Ceramic Shaving Bowl, Lather Bowl for Traditional Shave, Suribachi

A large shaving bowl or Suribachi, designed to be held securely in the hand from the base, it has a lather building center of rough unglazed ceramic. The rough textured center, helps the bristles of the shaving brush whip up the soap to a good lather and quickly. This bowl has been high fired (1200 degrees Celsius) so it is fully vitrified and waterproof. The base of the bowl is designed to fit snugly in your hand, giving you a firm non slip grip whilst you swirl your brush.

This shaving bowl is made from stoneware clay then glazed inside (except the texture ring in the center) in a lovely denim blue glaze which “breaks” deep brown over the rim.

Wheel-thrown with love in my cosy Wiltshire (UK) studio. Made from stoneware clay and glazed in food safe glazes. Glazes are brushed on in several layers to create the depth of colour you see. Twice fired upto 1200°C in my electric kiln.

Dishwasher, microwave, oven safe, however to retain its ravishing good looks I recommend washing by hand!
