My Journey
From a very young age, I remember digging out the clay from the soil at the bottom of my parents garden to make dolls house cups and plates.
I have been creating and selling wheel thrown ceramics since finishing a pottery course at a local college in 2015. I found making on the wheel so therapeutic and it came naturally. When the course finished, I immediately went looking for a second hand pottery wheel and eventually found the work horse I still use today. All work is fired in my electric kiln which used to be owned by my late husband's friend.
I work from my home studio, which is located half way between Stonehenge and Avebury. Beauty lives here. All the pretties you see in my shop are made by me with love and one at a time, in the beautiful countryside of Wiltshire, UK. Take a look at my Etsy page too PotsAboutPottery, click here https://potsaboutpottery.etsy.com where you can find more pieces and check out the client reviews.
Pots About Pottery couples a passion for creating beautiful pottery with carefully designed pieces, which are functional, rustic and unique. All of my ceramics are fired to around 1200°C, this ensures they are fully robust and most are dishwasher/microwave safe. Occasionally, I have Raku available in my shop. This is decorative and not usually functional since it is fired to a lower temperature and is therefore not watertight. I love to join other members of the pottery community at the annual 'social firing' held by the West Country Potters Association.
My main focus is making functional pieces: handcrafted stoneware teapots, ceramic tea or coffee mugs and cups, kitchen utensil holders, soap dishes, butter dishes, berry bowls, garlic and sugar jars, serving bowls, pitchers, dinnerware, shaving bowls, oil burners, cactus/succulent planters, mini mug necklaces, ceramic buttons and flower arranging vases (including mini bud vases). You name it, I can usually make it! These are ceramic items produced for your enjoyment by Pots About Pottery.
I'm interested in your views and welcome your questions. I look forward to working with you so that I can create something special and unique for you.
