Hi, I'm Mel Edwards and I have been creating functional ceramics and decorative Raku pottery for over 10 years. The time has come for me to share my passion and teach those who wish to learn pottery on the wheel. I will be available to teach on a 1:1 basis or as a couple and the workshops will be held at my home studio in Wiltshire. They can be one-off lessons to see if you like it, or a course of 6 lessons of throwing on the wheel!

To make the most of the time we have, you may wish to come with ideas of what you would like to make.

The amount you pay here is a non-refundable deposit, which is part-payment of the workshop. The balance will be due on the day.

Workshop cost (2.5 hrs): one:one = £130, couple = £190

Course of 6 workshops (15 hrs): one:one = £750, couple = £1100

Clay, materials and tools are included, as are glazes and firing in future workshops. In the first workshop and each following workshop, I will help you to produce one, two or three items to be refined/finished later by yourself, or if necessary by me*. Later, when dry, they will be fired, glazed, then glaze fired. If you also wish to learn about the firing process, just ask, as this can be accommodated. *If finished by me, a further charge of around £20 per pot, will be applied (depending on size).

Refreshments, cakes/biscuits will be supplied.

Please wear loose fitting clothing and short sleeves is ideal. I would suggest you wear nothing that dangles, no tassels, scarves or long necklaces. You might find it easier if you remove rings and other jewellery such as your watch. Be sure to tie back long hair if you have it. If you have long nails it might be a good idea to trim them shorter.

If you have an apron or an XL t-shirt, please feel free to bring it, although I do have some aprons. Clay does not stain, but if you want to go somewhere afterwards, you might want to bring a change of clothes.
